Flyer for a
Seattle protest scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15 at Volunteer Park.
Seattleites are invited to join tens of thousands of others throughout the country in a national protest against the passage in California of
Prop. 8 and similar votes in
Florida and
Arizona. Voters in Arkansas also
decided last week that it would be better to deny children a loving foster home rather that let gay men or lesbians become foster parents.
The Seattle protest starts at noon at Volunteer Park, with a festival starting at 10:30 am. Similar protests are scheduled for every state in the country.
Kyler Powell, who is organizing the Seattle protest writes in a Facebook group for the protest:
This group is to show how utterly disappointed and outraged we are at the inequality America keeps handing down to the LGBTQ community. Its time we stand up for our rights and come together, let them know we aren't going anywhere or giving up. Show your support and join the Rally!
Rally on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15, 2008 at noon. Volunteer Park pre-festival at 10:30 am.
BRING YOUR SIGNS, Rainbow flags, American Flags (traditionally American flags carried on poles upside down is a signal of distress.)
In an email to the protest Facebook group, Powell notes, "This has gotten so much bigger then we had originally anticipated. we NEED DONATIONS to help pull off this event."
