In anticipation of the theater's revival of the award-winning play Angels in America: Millennium Approaches Absurd Reality Theatre will present a forum next Thursday, July 10 , titled: “Are There Angels in America?” to address the place of the gay community and those living with AIDS in contemporary American spirituality. The forum will be held at the Capitol Hill Library [ get directions ] on July 10, from 5:30-7:30. Party and enjoy/buy art Saturday in Pioneer Square for a good cause. First the party part and then the cause... The party and exhibition/art auction is called Art Orgy . It starts at 7 pm and continues all night long with four bands and five DJ's to entertain on two floors of a huge space at 1016 1st Ave [ get directions ] next to Taboo Video that has been transformed into a one-night nightclub/gallery. Oh... and there will be body painting, indie movies, spoken word, food, snacks, and drag performances. And -- oh yes -- there will be go-go boys dancing in the window and sexy ladies on roller...

As he does with all things "sportrait" related, Andy Towle quickly found the full version of a few of the portraits after a Boston Globe story this morning about a New York exhibition that features paintings of hockey players, a few of them nude. Bostonist introduced its story on the portaits this way: One of our favorite little quirks in sports is that, when a hockey player is listed as active or inactive for a given game, the announcers say "so-and-so will [or will not] be dressed for tonight's game". It made us giggle as eighth-graders; it makes us giggle today. But giggling...

The gallery at the Seattle LGBT Center [ get directions ] will be suffused with vivid colors starting this Saturday when QArts, the gallery maintainer, hangs a solo exhibition of paintings by Seattle artist Tennessee Loveless . QArts says that Loveless's work "reflects his fascination with the bright colors, sharp contrasts and vivid hues of Pop art, '60's fashion icons, and neon-hued drag queens."
