And now, PI's Big Blog has the other side of story of the story on the Mariners decision that ballpark staff were justified when they asked Sirbrina Guerrero to stop kissing her girlfriend: In a conversation with P-I columnist Robert Jamieson today, Sirbrina Guerrero said she was surprised by the Mariners' conclusion that staff behavior toward her and her female partner at last Monday's game did not constitute discrimination. Why? Because earlier this week she said she had a good discussion with the Mariners director of guest services, Kathleen Lenihan. "She asked me if anything...

Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Big Blog Claiming that the goal of the team that runs the publicly-financed ballpark "is to foster an atmosphere at Safeco Field that is welcoming to all fans," Seattle Mariners officials have decided that their staff "acted appropriately" when ushers asked a lesbian couple to "tone it down" when they were seen kissing . The Mariners again insisted that the interaction between the couple was more than the "peck" that the couple and their friends described in initial reports. "[T]wo experienced staff members observed...

Whether it was a "peck" as the woman who shared it with her girlfriend claimed, or a full-on kiss, or what Mariners spokesperson later claims was a case of "groping," an incident at Safeco Field last week just got a lot more attention. Summary: An usher at Safeco Field last week told Sirbrina Guerrero and her date that someone had complained that the two women were kissing. The usher told them to stop. Guerrero complained to Safeco's guest services and later told her story to KOMO4. "I was really just shocked," Guerrero told Associated Press. "Seattle is so...

Ex-Sonic and new Cavalier Wally Szczerbiak photo: Star Tribune So, we haven't paid much attention to the Sonics since they were bought out by the homophobic OKC crew, but Seattlest (which has been paying attention) points out that the team has just traded away one of its more photogenic members. According to the AP : In a complex, 11-player swap involving Cleveland, Chicago and Seattle, [Cleveland] dealt half his active roster to acquire center Ben Wallace and forward Joe Smith from the Bulls, and forward Wally Szczerbiak and guard Delonte West from the SuperSonics. James, the Cavs' super...

As he does with all things "sportrait" related, Andy Towle quickly found the full version of a few of the portraits after a Boston Globe story this morning about a New York exhibition that features paintings of hockey players, a few of them nude. Bostonist introduced its story on the portaits this way: One of our favorite little quirks in sports is that, when a hockey player is listed as active or inactive for a given game, the announcers say "so-and-so will [or will not] be dressed for tonight's game". It made us giggle as eighth-graders; it makes us giggle today. But giggling...

OK... So, I wander through various news sources to pull together the news item on the homepage here and in the Qnews section. And usually it's enough to let them stand on their own as bits of information in that great sea. But there's this one that I just posted. It comes to us from UK Gay News -- a great source. The headline there is: Third of Former School American Football Players Had Gay Sexual Relations - Study That struck me as a bit surprising, although deliciously intriguing. But that's not quite what the story says, because there's a significant second factor involved here...

Here's a tale of steroid use that might -- as it's designed to do -- give pause to anyone considering the juice. Their sex life really slumped, however, when Bonds started taking steroids, driven by jealousy after Mark McGwire began receiving piles of press for his pursuit of Roger Maris' single-season home run record. ... Bonds was always moody - "I always figured he had PMS, like a woman," Bell said – but the drugs radically changed his behavior as well as his body. He became a different person, controlling, threatening and finally violent. ... His body had grown thicker...
