Eau Claire, Wisc. -- School officials here say they’ll look into the case of a teacher who told five health classes about her sexual orientation.
Administrators confirm that South Middle School instructor Stephanie Rowe told her students last week that she’s gay.
At least one parent said Rowe had no business talking about her sexual preference.
Parent Karen Peikert says Rowe is an outstanding teacher, but should stick to the curriculum. She did not explain to Associated Press why she believes a discussion of sexual orientation is inappropriate in a health class.
Parents were also concerned about a folder of questions given to the 125 students, which some thought were too graphic.
Gregg Butler, interim deputy superintendent, says his office will look into the matter. So will the school district’s human growth and development advisory panel.
