David Paterson's directive in May to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states and countries. CA marriage case New York -- The ACLU, Lambda Legal, and several other advocacy and legal groups are urging gay and lesbian couples who get married in California to avoid the temptation to file suits in their home states.
