Just to memorialize things: This was the "Welcome" message that we had up on the home page since we opened up the preview:
You've wandered upon a preliminary version of a new information source for gay/queer Seattle.
What will this become?
It's mostly happening in the background right now, but this site will soon become your source for information about gay Seattle. What you're seeing on this page now is only hint of what the site will become when we officially release it, but we'll try to open things up so you can watch the site develop.
What the page looks like now isn't what it will look like at release, but it will get closer each day. (We might have to turn off this page occasionally when we're working on things and replace it with our generic 'coming soon' page.)
Please help
We plan to make it your information source with several community features. There will, of course, be room for you to comment on any blog post and news story we publish. If there's sufficient interest, we'll eventually add a forum where you can discuss whatever is on your mind. There will even be an unfiltered blog -- Qyou -- where you can post your own blog messages whenever you wish.
seaQwa.com will include Qblog with posts about events and issues of interest to queer folk in the Puget Sound area. It will also include Qnews -- a wide-ranging summary of gay news items from around the world. Some of what you'll see in those blogs is now available in alpha (early pre-release) form on these pages. Those pages are currently mirroring content we've created with other services, but will soon move here as the primary source.
If you'd like to watch the "sausage" of the site being made, take a look at our (perhaps temporary) notes blog. It's far more self-indulgent than our normal editorial-we posts, but it gives you hints about what we're doing. It would also be a great place to tell us why what I'm doing here is all wrong.
More to come
But there's even more. If you've wanted to get into this whole blogging thing, or if you already have a blog and would like to have another way to get your posts out to the public, then we'd love to add you to our crew of bloggers. Please write editor@seaqwa.com
