New feed addresses for Qblog and Qnews
I don't really know if anyone has subscribed to the RSS feeds for either Qblog or Qnews. If you have, however, the location of the feeds has changed. For those two blogs, I've switched over to a FeedBurner-powered version of the feed.
I delayed a bit on that because there are some disadvantages to go along with the advantages of using Feedburner. In the end, however, I've decided that the advantages win out.
I'm not sure what will happen with the locally generated RSS or Atom feeds. My guess is that the system will keep on producing them. I'll figure that out in a moment, but if anyone has subscribed already, it's probably best to delete the old feed and use either or both (I hope) of these:
Qblog: http://feeds.feedburner.com/seaqwa/qblog
Qnews: http://feeds.feedburner.com/seaqwa/qnews
The subscription links on each blog's pages is a bit confusing for now until I fix it. Clicking either "RSS" or "Atom" will take you to the FeedBurner reader-choice page. The service automatically generates either an RSS or an Atom version depending on the reader you pick. I'll change those two choices to a single one -- something like "Choose reader" -- but I have to figure out how to do that since I'm not currently planning to switch this blog to FeedBurner.
Other feeds, including the comments feed for all blogs and all of the feeds for this one will (for now, at least) continue to use the local feeds.
One factor in making this decision: Because of the often woeful slowness of the host I'm currently using, I figure it's best to move things like the check-for-content pings offline from the host. It's a relatively tiny amount of data and traffic to maintain those, but it seems that this host can be slowed to a crawl by just about anything.
(And, yes, I'm looking for a new host. I spent the afternoon yesterday investigating possibilities.)
