Gay City University seeks instructors

Seattle’s gay community goes back to school this spring! Gay City University (GCU) returns for its fourteenth session on May 17th, 2008.

Gay City Health Project is seeking instructors to teach engaging, informative, and diverse classes to community members during our day-long event. Individuals interested in offering a course at Gay City University should visit www.gaycity.org to download a course proposal form.

This is an opportunity to teach a class to gay, bisexual and transgender men on the subject of your choice. No prior teaching experience is necessary, just be passionate and knowledgeable about what you’re teaching. Classes at GCU range in size from 10 to 30 students, and are 75 minutes in length.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

Aging issues, Financial strategies for gay men, Dating, Film and theater, Holistic medicine, Fitness/exercise, Gay/bi history, Politics- Election 2008, Literature and writing, Home interiors, Pop culture, Arts and crafts, Relationships, Sexuality and erotica, Gardening, Travel Career development or anything else that may be of interest to the community!

Gay City University is designed to provide opportunities for growth and learning for gay, bisexual and trans men in the Seattle area through periodic non-graded classes and workshops offered in a safe and fun environment. GCU seeks to create a sense of community and to promote communication and self-esteem among men of all ages.

GCU instructors will be selected by a volunteer committee. Individuals interested in offering a course at Gay City University should fill out the course proposal form attached. Proposal forms are also available at the Gay City Health Project Wellness Center at 511 East Pike Street in Seattle. Proposals may be emailed, snail-mailed, faxed or dropped off, and must arrive at Gay City no later than Friday, March 14th, by 5PM.

We will be excepting workshop proposals after the deadline, just contact me if you need some more time to get yours in.

Please send this information to anyone who might be interested in facilitating a course :)
